NEW CJ1 PLC DELIVERS BIG CONTROLLER CAPABILITY
IN A SPACE-SAVING, COMPACT PACKAGE

SCHAUMBURG, IL (June 14, 2001) - Omron, the company that brought the first mid-sized PLC to the industry, introduces a new PLC that redefines classifications. The Omron CJ1 series of controllers is designed to deliver significant PLC performance from a product the size of the smallest micro controllers on the market, requiring only 40 to 60% of the panel space of traditional mid-size PLCs. With processor speeds of 20ns and up to 2,560 I/O points, the CJ1 exceeds the performance of mid and large rack controllers, and allows for compact machines that provide the highest level of control possible.

The CJ1 modules are each roughly the size of a deck of playing cards and connect module-to-module using simple locking connectors, eliminating the need for a bulky PLC rack. The PC21 bus, designed for Omron's mid-sized CS1 PLC, provides high-speed communication from the CJ1 CPU to individual modules.

The CJ1 also includes communication options generally associated with larger PLC platforms, leveraging Omron's FINS protocol to transparently tie Ethernet, Controller Link, serial, and device level networks together for data exchange and programming. The CJ1 is programmed by Omron's CX-Programmer software, which supports the entire Omron PLC product line.
