NEW OPC SERVER FROM OMRON PROVIDES INDUSTRY STANDARD
INTERFACE AND SIMPLIFIES CONNECTIVITY WITH MULTI-VENDOR SOFTWARE

SCHAUMBURG, IL (September 26, 2000)-One of the new application tools in Omron's CX-Automation Suite, CX-Server OPC, provides a connection between the industry standard OPC interface specification and Omron's network architecture and controllers. CX-Server OPC allows any OPC compliant client software to interface easily with Omron.

As an integrated application tool in Omron's CX-Automation Suite, CX-Server OPC uses existing or new Omron project files to identify data available to the OPC server. Using existing project data enhances productivity and reuse of existing engineering resources, along with reducing project development time. CX-Server OPC's multi-vendor connectivity and information exchange capability eliminates driver development issues. CX-Server OPC is based on Omron's CX-Server communications technology, which provides a reliable connection to Omron networks and controllers

CX-Server supports multiple networks, including Ethernet, Omron's Controller Link and Host Link, and it supports Omron's powerful FINS multi-level gateway capability.
